It’s no secret: I love the holidays.

How could I not when most holidays make me think of family, community, gifts, and good food (yum!)? That’s why it’s so easy to love and appreciate them. (And it’s always a bonus if we get a day off work or school, ha.)

For Forbidden Kisses with Her Millionaire Boss, I took Karl and Lin – with all their heartaches and hang-ups – and dumped them right in the middle of the autumn/winter holiday season in Canada. Sprinkle in a workplace romance (a favorite trope of mine!) and voila, Karl and Lin can’t escape each other so easily. Cue maniacal laughing. 🤭

Of course they’re strangers, and it’s a long road to their happily ever after, yet it was fun mapping out their love story over the few months Lin is working with and living near Karl in Calgary. Speaking of Calgary, gorgeous city, really a gem of the Canadian West. I loved setting the story there.

With that all said, Lin and Karl’s story was a challenge to write (and get right, which I hope I did!). They both have experienced losses of love in their pasts, in both similar and slightly different ways. But the result is the same: they’ve closed off their lonely hearts. Or at least until they meet each other. Karl, especially. His disbelief in love is ice-solid, and it takes more than a few kisses to thaw him into reconsidering…

So, given all the baggage they’re each carrying, having the cheery holidays as a backdrop through all the ups and downs that Lin and Karl endure was a delightful reprieve. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Years’ Eve. That’s enough holidays to rejuvenate and inspire cheer onto anyone, wouldn’t you say? It certainly works in Lin’s favor. Getting Karl to warm up is a difficult enough task as is, but a little holiday magic always helps.

Forbidden Kisses with Her Millionaire Boss is also my first holiday romance. I wrote it as an homage to what holidays usually encompass: laughter, love, and life.

And most importantly I know the festive season can get stressful sometimes, so I also wrote this one for anyone who wants a feel-good romance to curl up to. I can’t tell you how many times books have come to my rescue. (So. Many. Times.)

It’s why I hope readers love Lin and Karl as much as I do.

Happy reading and happy holidays!
