It’s been 4 years since my last new Medical romance was released. Where did that time go? It feels like forever and the blink of an eye, all at once.

I took a break from writing medicals in 2017. It was always my intention to come back and do more but I was groaning with other projects – longer projects – I was itching to write and knew I needed to give them the concentration they deserved. And then the gaping morass of the pandemic hit and writing just became really hard, you know?

Reading however, became a lifeline. It seemed to be the only thing that brought both joy and relief from the overwhelming anxiety – especially romance! So, I spent a lot of months just reading and thanking the universe for all the wonderful romance authors who helped get me and so many through the darkest days of Covid.

I have to say that here, in Australia – comparative to many, many countries – we fared quite well through the last 2 years. Which is not to diminish the lost lives or the  hardship of lockdowns or the huge ripples that Covid had and continues to have. But, suffice to say, I’m glad I was in a country that put health above all. And now, despite the pandemic still very much being with us, we are coming out into a new kind of normal and I’m celebrating that with a new book 😊

So, what on earth could my inspiration have been during the harrowing times of late?

Well…another thing that helped with the pandemic was television – thank you streaming services! And it was a TV show that inspired Nurse’s Outback Temptation.

A new take on an old Aussie fave hit our screens last year – RFDS. It’s no exaggeration to say I was inspired by the rather hunky hero to write a Flying Doctor book. I think if you check out the trailer, you can see why 😊

The book, like the TV show also has an English lass although the roles are reversed – she is the nurse and he is the doctor – and, if you like a fish-out-of-water story, then this is the one for you!

It starts with Chelsea landing in the outback in the middle of a scorching summer and the contrasts between her old home and her new one don’t stop coming! But Chelsea doesn’t care. She needs to be anywhere but England for Christmas and outback Australia is as about as far away as she can get.

So….yeah, she’s running away. And Aaron, our hero, is hiding. Which makes them perfect for each other, right? 😊

Neither of them are looking for love but sometimes, life doesn’t go according to even the most stringently controlled plans and that’s where the fun begins.

Amidst all the high drama of an outback aeromedical service, Aaron and Chelsea fight an attraction that is red hot despite neither of them wanting it to be so and the myriad reasons they come up with for not succumbing. How long it takes them to do that and how long it takes for them to get in deep kept my heart pitter-patting as I wrote.

I hope it makes yours pitter-patter, too!

Nurse’s Outback Temptation by Amy Andrews

When nurse Chelsea lands in Australia, her plan is simple: to leave the heart-breaking reason why she can’t call London home anymore on the plane and start over. Yet, when Chelsea is introduced to far-too handsome flight doctor Aaron, it’s clear that her “new start, no romance” vow is already at risk! All Chelsea wants is a summer free from her painful past… But could a summer of love with Aaron be what she really needs?

Read now in eBook or in paperback which also features One Weekend in Prague by Alison Roberts.
