Love to Write Shortlist: Meet Alison French

Earlier this year we ran our #LoveToWrite writing competition in conjunction with Prima magazine. We are absolutely thrilled with the amount of submissions received and the high quality of writing. The winner will become a published Mills & Boon author and have their first chapter published in Prima Magazine later this year accompanied by an interview. Our fabulous judges had the difficult task of picking the Top submissions for our final 8 shortlist finalists.

Meet Alison French

...we LOVED the chemistry between her characters!

Name: Alison French

Occupation: Works in an international bank based in London

Location: Essex

Why I love to write: I have been scribbling stories on bits of paper since I was a little girl. Being told to go to bed wasn’t a hardship as it meant I could reconnect with all my imaginary friends. All grown up now and having celebrated my 50th birthday at Christmas, not much has changed except the voices in my head now always demand a happy ending.

Writing is generally fun and relaxing.  However, sometimes it’s hard work, frustrating and emotional but when a character says or does something unexpected and you realise they’ve come alive, it’s utterly magical.

I absolutely love the romance genre and couldn’t imagine writing anything else and having read voraciously since I was a child, reading my first Mills & Boon when I was probably far too young, there was little doubt what publisher I would be aiming for.

I work full-time. When I’m not working, spending time with my lovely family or writing I can be found in the garden avoiding the housework.
