Tawny Weber on Why Sexy Romances are All About the Shoes

New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author of thirty books and counting, Tawny Weber has been writing sassy, sexy romances since her first one hit the shelves in 2007.  Here she tells us why every sexy character starts with a great pair of shoes...with examples from her own collection!

A SEAL’s Fantasy was my 25th Blaze.  That’s 25 different sexy, mouth watering heroes, 25 different fun, interesting heroines, and 25 chances to explore the delicious varieties of heat they could generate.   I have yet to write a hero with a serious foot fetish, but I’ll admit, all of my heroines have a major shoe obsession.  And their taste in shoes usually shows a lot about their personality… both in and out of bed.

And yes, those personalities (and love scenes) often require great shoes.  For instance, in A SEAL’s Fantasy, Lara is a showgirl.  She’s got a very hot body and she knows it. After all, it earns her a living.  She doesn’t have a shy bone in her body, knows she’s worthy of attention and yes, at one point challenges her sexy hero to show off his knot tying skills.  As flashy as Lara is, she’s a savvy woman who knows what she wants and how to look good getting it—even if it means stripping down to her just her shoes.

In my current Sexy SEAL story, A SEAL’s Secret, Olivia is a fitness expert with a body that does her career proud.   She comes across as sweet and shy, on the surface, which intrigues the hottie hero, Mitch.  But Olivia is anything but shy when it comes to showing Mitch a good time.   Is it any wonder the guy is crazy about every single inch of her?

A lot of authors use images of actors, inspiration from movies or heroic archetypes when they create the characters in their stories.  Me?  I always start with their shoes.  Right down to the heroes… Even my Sexy SEALs.
