Clare Connelly: Crazy Rich Greek Weddings

Clare Connelly: Crazy Rich Greek Weddings

We caught up with wonderful Modern and DARE author Clare Connelly to hear all about the inspiration behind her new duet, Crazy Rich Greek Weddings, as well as the reasons why she loves Mills & Boon books!

I found my way to Mills & Boon novels when I was about twelve years old. My mother was an antique dealer and much of our weekends were spent ransacking garage sales (yard sales) and op shops, looking for hidden treasure. There were always boxes of books and in one of these boxes I first found a bundle of ‘sexy’ (as they were called then) Mills & Boons. I opened the cover of one with no idea of how my life was about to change – from that very first page I was hooked!

I absolutely loved the emotional intensity of these books – not just between the couple but within themselves, the drama and grief of their pasts that make you even more invested in their happily ever after. In the Crazy Rich Greek Weddings duet, I gave my characters some pretty intense emotional angst to overcome – but don’t worry, they do!

The second thing I loved about these Mills & Boon Moderns was the fantasy and escapism. The settings in these books were a rich tapestry of billionaire playgrounds – private islands in the Mediterranean, ski lodges in Aspen, super yachts on the French Riviera. Thanos and Leo are no ordinary billionaires – they are two of the wealthiest men in the entire world and they have the opulent lifestyles to prove it.

Of course, contrasted to everything the Stathakis brothers have in life is what they don’t have – the happiness and fulfilment that an amazing emotional connection can bring. Enter Alice and Hannah, two women who are the perfect complement to my handsome Greek heroes.

I can’t wait to share these books with you!
