I absolutely adore writing stories set in close communities and as someone who lives on an island myself, I couldn’t wait to write this story about a nurse, Cass, who goes to the small Scottish Isle of Gulray, to escape a tragic past.
When brainstorming ideas, I couldn’t get an image out of my head of a woman holding a baby boy and struggling to hold back her tears of grief. I didn’t know who she was, but she intrigued me and I knew I had to tell her story.
Once I knew who she was and what had happened to her in the past, it was easy for me to construct the other elements – the setting, the hero, lovely Lachie, and his family and make Gulray everything that Cass would need if only she could be brave enough to go for it.
I loved writing their story so much and I hope that my readers enjoy it, too!
