Louisa George on Christmas with her characters

HER DOCTOR’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL author Louisa George is here to tell us who, out of all her characters, she would choose to spend Christmas with. Don’t forget, you can win a copy of the book, plus a night’s stay for 2 at the Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa in Suffolk on B&B basis including use of spa, in our 12 Days Of Christmas competition, now.

If I could spend Christmas with one of my characters it would be… Matteo Finelli (Tempted By Her Italian Surgeon) and here’s why…

Matteo is one of my all time favourite characters…the ubiquitous maverick hero he is a delicious playboy, irreverent surgeon and sex-bomb all rolled into one. Coming from a large family in Tuscany he’d give me a Christmas to remember with lots of laughter, cosy evenings in front of a fire, long walks during the day and the gabbling fun repartee that goes with too many siblings in one place at one time. In his family run restaurant there’d be long tables overflowing with delicious Tuscan food and local wines.

But being a doctor and having an adored younger sister who almost died he’s aware of the need to make life extra special; so there’d be quiet moments of breathing in the picturesque Italian countryside and a trip to Florence to visit historical buildings, and marvel at the magnificent Duomo.

Very different from my reality, of course—which will be a hot summer Christmas in New Zealand, spent with my lovely husband and two gorgeous teenage sons…maybe a swim, a barbecue, and definitely lashings of love all round. Merry Christmas!
