Most Romantic Restaurant in the UK: Clos Maggiore

Clos Maggiore, is an award-winning restaurant in the heart of London’s Covent Garden. The beautiful conservatory and Italian/French inspired interior earned the restaurant the accolade of Most Romantic Restaurant at the recent Mills & Boon #TheRomantics awards and the cuisine has earned Clos Maggiore AA-Rosette awards. Author Sharon Kendrick presented the restaurant with the overall winners winner award at #TheRomantics, so we took the author along for a delicious lunch to find out how she will include the venue in an upcoming Mills & Boon book. Here’s what she had to say…

“Clos Maggiore is the ultimate romantic restaurant because it is so, well, unexpected. Imagine the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden with its colourful stalls and street entertainers….and then stepping into an enchanted room with a ceiling covered in white blossom.  It’s like walking into a fairy story.  A secret garden in the heart of town.

But that’s just the beginning.  Soon we were tucking into Sicilian aubergine and figs with Italian cheese and meltingly light fish while we discussed the all important topics of virgin heroines and hunky alpha heroes, to the amusement of the diners on the next table (one of whom is now planning to pitch for Mills & Boon!)

Which part did I like best?  Tough choice.  Meeting the chef was a highlight – and not just because he’s tall, good-looking and French!  His food was perfect but the cream-flecked Bailey’s panna-cotta with two tiny warm fruit muffins got top marks from everyone around the table.

I came away feeling completely inspired….lots of food for thought.

It’s as synonymous with romance as Mills & Boon – so don’t miss it next time you’re in London.”
