Q. What’s your earliest childhood memory?
A. Staring at the sky because my push-chair had up-ended when my mother overloaded it with the free newspapers she was delivering. I was two or three. I haven’t let her forget it.
Q. What was your favourite lesson at school?
A. I’m supposed to say English aren’t I? Instead I shall stun you by saying History. I know. I love to shock.
Q. If you could invite 3 people, dead or alive, to a dinner party, who would they be?
A. Anne Tyler, Stephen Fry and Winston Churchill
Q. What’s your favourite quote?
A. I told you I was ill. (Spike Milligan’s epitaph)
Q. Do you prefer sunrise or sunset?
A. Sunset.

A. …telling the truth.
Q. What achievement are you most proud of?
A. Can I say having my children? I think all mothers would agree that the process is quite an achievement. If not, then seeing Not Quite Perfect reach number 6 in the Kindle bestsellers.

A. I believe in restless souls.

A. Anne Tyler
Q. If you could go back and do it all again, what would you change?
A. I would take my mother up on that offer of ballet lessons at the age of 6.

A. Yellow freesia.
