#HistoricalHeroes Finalists Announced!

Hi everyone!

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! For three whole weeks, the Historical Editors (Linda, Kathryn and Nicola) have been thrust into the world of dissolute dukes, noble knights, wicked warriors and so much more! We’ve seen settings ranging from India to Morocco to China, themes ranging from arranged marriages to business deals gone awry to brutal battles, and, the stars of the show, heroes ranging from soldiers in the trenches to bohemian Parisian artists to conniving Tudor lords! And first of all we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who submitted to our #HistoricalHeroes competition. We had such fun reading your stories and the fight to reach one of the Top 3 spots was fiercer than we could ever have expected!

But, as with every tournament, there must be a winner! So, without further ado, here are our Top 3 heroes. Their swords are at the ready, their war paint is on and they are determined to win your hearts in the ultimate showdown!

Up first, from the Regency/Victorian era we have Nicholas Blake, fifth Viscount Markham, created by Phoebe Randerson in “Eye of the Beholder”.

Then challenging him from Medieval/Tudor week we have Huw ap Goronwy, spy to the king, created by Tora Williams in “The Welsh King’s Spy”.

And hoping to outdo both of his competitors is Rosaire Rainville, who never says no to a fight, created by Faye Delacour in “Like a Musketeer”.

The chapters will all be going up on the M&B website today, so get ready to meet 3 of the hottest heroes around! When you’ve read all 3 chapters, pick your favourite, and send an email by midnight this Thursday, 17th July to Historical.Heroes@hqnuk.co.uk with your favourite in the subject header. The public’s choice will then be declared Tournament Champion on Twitter and Facebook on Friday, 18th July!

For those writers out there who entered the competition but didn’t make the Top 3, never fear, there are many heroes we want to see more of! Feedback will be going out to all other competitors the week commencing Monday 21st July.

Good luck to our Top 3 Heroes, and may the best of the #HistoricalHeroes win!

Let the battle commence!

Linda, Kathryn and Nicola
