Flirty Fiction shortlist – Rachel Dove

Flirty Fiction shortlist – Rachel Dove

Back in January Prima magazine launched our Flirty Fiction writing competition to win a publishing contract. After hundreds of entries our panel of judges have managed the difficult task of deciding on an exciting shortlist. In the weeks running up to the announcing the winner, we thought you might like to know a little more about each of the shortlisted authors.

What’s the title of your story?
The Chic Boutique of Baker Street

Can you tell us about your story?
It’s a tale of hope – picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and moving on to new beginnings.

What do you do?
I am a teacher, working in the field of adult education. I also work from home doing small projects for clients, and am studying to complete my degree and Cert Ed qualifications. In my spare time I read and write.

Where do you live?
I live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire with my husband Peter, our sons Jayden and Nathan, Max the dog and Tilly the cat.

How you ever written anything before?
I have been writing since I was old enough to pick up a pen. I have self-published some short stories and a novella, and am always writing in different ways, be it course planning, readers’ letters, blog entries or tales of romance. My alter ego also writes horror!

When did you read your first Mills & Boon?
I remember being on holiday in Crete, when I was a child. I have always been an avid reader and I had run out of reading material, so my mother took me to the hotel shop and I picked up a Mills & Boon. I loved the characters, the emotion, and the romance, so I have been a huge fan since then.

Liz Fielding

Who is your favourite Mills & Boon author and why?
Liz Fielding – I adore her style of writing and her books never fall to suck me in from the first page.

What would you do if you won?
Besides scream and jump up and down? I would be absolutely thrilled, writing books is a dream I have cherished and chased since childhood. It would be amazing 🙂

The winner and the first chapter of their book will be exclusively revealed in the August issue of Prima magazine available from 3 July 2015.
